Theater Play: ‘Silk Ocean’ (ŠkArt)

(Based on the motives of the book Silk Ocean by Alessandro Baricco)

Being aware of the power of the sea only when it rages, we often forget our own inner waves.

Is every place we head to the place we want to arrive, or do we end up there by pure coincidence? Is the Sea itself cruel or poetic? Does the Sea have a beginning and an end? Does the Sea have its boundaries, or do we audaciously want to define them? Have we become beasts by the Sea, or have we held hands and kept the promises we made to each other not so long ago? Does the Sea change our decisions? Are we afraid of its power or the uncertainties it carries?

To these and more questions, the children try to answer first to themselves and then to us. Persistent in their search, yet ready for the unpredictability of play and imagination, they tirelessly follow their own Sea and the poetry within their souls. They seek the truth. Through storms and calms.

Classical music concert: Dances of the Wind Milica & Milena Kankaraš

At the Tivat Museum and Gallery, located in the complex of the medieval Buća-Luković Summer Residence, the audience in Tivat will have an exceptional opportunity on May 5th to enjoy the concert “Dance of Dances,” prepared for the Wind Festival by Milica and Milena Kankaraš, a duo on harp and clarinet.

Harpist and harp professor, Milica Kankaraš, expressed their great pleasure to participate in the Wind Festival, which they have taken as a challenge to dance and play, the basic musical forms they will bring to us. The repertoire will include works by modern composers who wrote for the harp: Bernard Andrès’ Autumn Dances, the suite for the duo “Algues,” Dances for the harp and clarinet duo by Carol Wood, Fabio Rizza, Deborah Henson-Conant, and others.

Opening of the Adriatic Artists exhibition: ‘WindFest through the lens of a camera’

Adriatic Artists is a society of artists dedicated to the sea and visual content related to the Adriatic Sea and the Mediterranean. Adriatic artists consist of professional painters and photographers, as well as talented amateurs, gathered for the purpose of creative socializing and joint digital and collective exhibitions. The society has been active for ten years, and the exhibition within the Wind Festival 2023 is their tenth joint presentation in Montenegro and Croatia. The group’s council consists of Vilma Matulic, Jasmina Skroza, Dragan Lopušina, and academic painter Boris Dragojević, a hyperrealist who finds his greatest inspiration in the Boka landscapes, masterpieces of art created by nature and man.

Each collective exhibition of the Adriatic Artist association had its theme, and their desire to connect with the Wind Festival decided that the theme of the tenth exhibition would be “Wind Festival through the lens prism.” The exhibition will be set up on two gallery levels of the Tivat Museum and Gallery, and after the grand opening on May 5, it will be available to the public for ten days.

Why the Wind Festival, we asked the Adriatic Artists association? Because, they say, our stories are very close – we promote the same values and with the same love, through creation, we want to preserve the identity of the space we inherit.

Conference: Boka Bay as a Sustainable Nautical Destination

The “Delfin” Sailing Club, in collaboration with the Maritime Faculty of Kotor and the Institute of Marine Biology at the University of Montenegro, is organizing a one-day conference on the topic of “Boka Bay as a Sustainable Nautical Destination.” The conference will gather representatives from relevant state institutions and experts from both the country and abroad. The aim of the conference is to better and more comprehensively examine the perspectives of the Boka Bay’s waters from the aspect of maritime traffic safety, as well as the protection of biodiversity and the cultural landscape of the Boka coast.

The conference will include two panels, which will be opened with welcome addresses by representatives of the “Delfin” Sailing Club, Dean of the Maritime Faculty of Kotor, Prof. Dr. Špiro Ivošević, and the Director of the Institute of Marine Biology at the University of Montenegro in Kotor, Dr. Mirko Đurović.

The theme of the first panel is “Planning and Safety of Navigation in Boka Bay,” and it will begin with lectures by relevant experts in the field. Our guest is Captain Siniša Orlić, Director of the Directorate for Maritime Safety at the Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, an experienced expert who will share experiences from the Republic of Croatia. This will be followed by a lecture by Dr. Maja Škurić from the Maritime Faculty of Kotor, who will give a presentation on the topic of “Possibilities for the Development of Passenger Ferry Transport.”

In the panel discussion that follows, representatives from the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration, Kotor Port Authority, Kotor Port, Porto Montenegro Marina and Portonovi, and publicist and journalist specialized in maritime issues, Mr. Siniša Luković, will participate. The moderator of this panel will be Ms. Maja Mijušković, Director of the Directorate for Maritime Traffic, Navigation Safety, Pollution Protection, and Maritime Economy.

The afternoon panel is dedicated to the protection of biodiversity and cultural heritage, titled “Impact of Maritime Traffic on the Ecosystem and Cultural Landscape of Boka Bay.” Introductory lectures will be given by Dr. Jasmina Obhođaš from the Croatian Ruđer Bošković Institute and Dr. Radmila Gagić from the Maritime Faculty of Kotor. The moderator of the panel discussion that follows will be Dr. Vesna Mačić from the Institute of Marine Biology.

Participation in the panel discussion has been confirmed by representatives of the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration, Institute of Marine Biology, Environmental Protection Agency, Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development “Expeditio” from Kotor, and the Public Enterprise for the Management of Maritime Property of Montenegro.

RC Regatta

The Delfin Sailing Club is organizing a model sailboat regatta for the second time. This is a sporting discipline that has not yet taken off in our region, but it is a subject of very popular and exciting competitions in Europe and around the world.

In the Bay of Kotor, we have several RC sailboats, which have been invited to participate in the regatta in the harbor in front of Delfin, scheduled for Sunday, April 30, starting at 5 pm.

The boats in question are the Dragon Force 65 type, measuring 65 cm in length and very popular among amateurs. The sailing rules are the same as in classic competitions. A sailing field is set up, but race judges observe from the shore, where competitors control their boats. These regattas are very attractive for the audience, who can closely watch the competition.

Model boat regattas are becoming increasingly popular as a form of sailing competition worldwide. The professional International One Metre (IOM) class is recognized by the ISAF and is organized through the International Radio Sailing Association.

Tivat Regatta UNA MONTENEGRO CUP

The Tivat Regatta UNA Montenegro Cup is an event that we owe all other activities of the Cruiser Sailing Section of the YC Delfin club. We have woven the WIND FESTIVAL around it, with the intention of spreading the positive energy we create in Delfin to the local community. On the last Sunday in April, this year on the 30th of April, we will sail its 18th edition.

The regatta is open to cruisers, multi-hull boats, and the Hobie Cat and J70 classes. Participation of around 50 boats and 250 sailors is expected.

The race takes the following route: start near Ponta Seljanovo, sail around the Tunja lighthouse, Gospa od Milosti and Sveti Marko islands, through the Ralo passage, the Verige strait, around the Perast islands on the left side, and back to the finish at Ponta Seljanovo.

Spectators can follow the regatta almost along the entire route from the Tivat shores.

Trophies will be awarded to the fastest boat in real-time and the top three places in each category.

The award ceremony for the 18th Tivat Regatta UNA Montenegro Cup will be held in front of YC Delfin on April 30th at 8 pm, followed by a traditional dinner for the participants and a well-known good gathering, which is the start and end goal of all our actions.

PMYC J70 WindFest Cup

The cooperation between JK Delfin and PMYC, especially in the field of cruiser sailing, progresses year by year in terms of joint competition organization and collaboration in all areas to position Tivat as an essential sailing destination. With the class it offers – J70 sailboats, Porto Montenegro provides eight identical boats suitable for all types of cruiser competitions, especially for match race regattas.

As part of the Wind Festival 2023, JK Delfin and Porto Montenegro Yacht Club are organizing the PMYC J70 Wind Fest Cup for the second time, which will take place on the second day of the festival, April 29th. The regatta will be held in the waters of Tivat Bay, at a distance from the shore suitable for watching the competition from all positions along the Pine city promenade and Seljanovo promenade.

Small Tivat Regatta: Optimists and Lasers

The Small Tivat Regatta is dedicated to small sailing classes, which are the backbone of the development of sailing in Montenegro. Therefore, the regatta will bring together all the forces of the Boka Bay sailing clubs, whose young competitors will compete in the Optimist and Laser classes. The start of the one-day competition, the number of races for which will, as always, be determined by the sea and wind conditions on April 29th, is scheduled for 11 am.

One of the most important partners of the Wind Festival, when it comes to local cultural institutions, is certainly the Public Institution Museum and Gallery Tivat, which has incorporated several significant scientific and artistic contents into the program of this year’s edition, giving the Wind Fest a boost to position itself as a sustainable development festival.

The first event organized by this institution is an international conference on the topic of “Intangible Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism: Opportunities and Challenges (2003-2023),” which will be held from April 28th to 30th, 2023. The Public Institution Museum and Gallery Tivat is organizing the conference in anticipation of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2003.
