Bike race: Vrmac Enduro 2023

Within the sports program of the Wind Festival 2023, on Saturday, April 20th, we have the off-road cycling race “Vrmac Enduro 2023,” aimed at highlighting the values and potentials of the Tivat hinterland.

A great team of local downhill cyclists is organizing a gathering in the beautiful surroundings of the future Vrmac Nature Park. Starting from the Peani settlement, gravity and muscles will lead cyclists to enjoy challenging trails that offer fantastic landscape views until the race finishes in the Marici settlement.

The trail is of medium difficulty with a dirt, rocky, and grassy terrain, and the competition is open for four categories:

  • Hobby
  • Elite
  • Junior
  • Masters

For participants under the age of 18: parental or guardian presence is mandatory, or a legal adult who will confirm their representation and responsibility by signing the application form.

All participants compete at their own risk and by signing and collecting their race number, they accept these regulations. The organizer is not responsible for participants’ actions towards themselves or others, nor for any potential damages that may occur during the competition.

Theater Play: ’Roko and Cicibela’

Roko and Cicibela is a typical Mediterranean play that can be called a love melodrama with elements of folk comedy. This bittersweet and sour fairy tale duodrama comes from the pen of the legendary Split humorist Miljenko Smoje, although the true story of the love between two poor Split residents, Roko and Cicibela, has been recorded in the verses and stories of many. Perhaps it has resonated with us, the Adriatic Mediterraneans, most through the lyrics of Zdenko Runjić’s anthological song “Ća je život vengo fantažija.”

The play Roko and Cicibela, brought to Tivat by the Kazališna družina Ritam, was created as a graduation project of acting master Ivan Baranović and was first performed on the stage of the Art Academy in Split under the mentorship of Professor Milan Štrljić. Since 2019, it has been included in the permanent repertoire of Ritam igre and has been performed more than 50 times, with the guest performance in Tivat as the latest addition.

The play dynamically depicts all stages of Roko and Cicibela’s love relationship in an hour: from meeting in poverty and destitution to the proposal, Cicibela’s pregnancy, and their shared dreaming of a better future. Colloquially, we can call the play a love fairy tale and an ode to life, which is beautiful if you have the love of your life beside you.

Exhibition and educational lecture: Women and Fisheries

On the occasion of Museum Night, the Public Institution Museum and Gallery, in the context of the Wind Festival, is organizing the opening of the exhibition “Women and Fishing.” The exhibition will showcase the results of fieldwork, which will discuss the role of women in fishing in the past and present. The guest lecturer will be ichthyologist Dr. Aleksandar Joksimović.

Concert: Milky Wave

Milky Wave is an energetic musical ensemble formed in 2020 with the mission to move crowds of all ages with their good sound. Their repertoire includes electro/pop/funk/rock hits from international and local artists, marked by the unique sound of guitarist and frontman Marko Đurišić, bassist Aleksandar Dragojević, and drummer Davor Marković.

Guitar Evening – Music School Tivat and Art School “Vida Matjan” Kotor – Museum and Gallery Tivat

On May 13th, a Guitar Evening at the Museum and Gallery Tivat will be presented by students and professors of the Music School Tivat and the Art School “Vida Matjan” from Kotor. The concert will feature a very interesting program, ranging from classical music, arrangements of popular evergreen music for guitar, group performances, and even small musical stage acts. The repertoire includes works by J.S. Bach, Francisco Tárrega, Antonio Lauro, Carlo Domeniconi, and many others.

Educational lecture: The disappearing cultural landscapes of Boka Bay in archaeological research (Miloš Petričević & Jelena Čelebić)

Climate change and anthropogenic influence are irreversibly destroying the archaeological record on land and underwater. The disappearance of archaeological landscapes, which hold answers to important questions about our past, represents a permanent loss for science and cultural heritage in general. The loss of character, uniqueness, and authenticity of landscapes has irreversibly disrupted the connection in creating and shaping the spatial identity of communities and individuals.

Only by understanding the causes and consequences of the interaction between humans and the environment can create an effective system of their integral protection. Therefore, the identification and preservation of hidden and lost archaeological landscapes are imposed as an obligation of modern society.

While a doctoral student on the topic of “Archaeological site of Lustica and Grbalj” will talk about the archaeological site of the Boka Bay, the tireless archaeologist Miloš B. Petričević and his colleague, archaeologist focused primarily on the research of coastal cultural landscapes, Jelena Čelebić, will focus their presentation on lost coastal cultural landscapes, whose disappearance is reflected in the loss of valuable artifacts of the past, as well as in the disappearance of skills that built them.

“Man in the landscape, landscape in man” is what best describes every coastal cultural region. Rapid and unfortunately drastic changes in the landscape of the Boka Bay and the entire coast, caused by haphazard, unplanned, and megalomaniacal construction, have largely affected not only crafts and the economy but also the overall perception of the sea.

Coastal or maritime cultural landscapes are defined by material and immaterial remains that testify to the predominantly coastal life of people. The goal of the concept of coastal cultural landscapes is to offer an approach to studying the sea and the coast through the engagement of various disciplines, including not only archaeology, history, social anthropology, ethnology, and language, but also other natural sciences such as geology and geomorphology.

Concert: Concert: Rhythm, Dance, and Happiness (Svemir Lazarević, Dejan Matovic Seagull Prime, DVj Shimbo)

Svemir Lazarević is an enthusiast of acoustics as a science and someone who has a phenomenal feel for music related to Africa – dance, love, sun, and happiness. Svemir is someone who makes plants dance, creating an ambiance that clears the mind, while listeners draw power from a source of pure energy. This native of Herceg Novi – a western Bokelian – will bring gusts of the southern wind directly from Africa, with elements of gentle, cheerful summer Maestral, delightful Ostri, and a touch of pure Bura. Those who want to socialize and dance should come and join the fun.

Dejan Matovic, better known as Seagull Prime, is a DJ and producer from Herceg Novi. He is a member of the duo 2Beat, a pair you’ve had the opportunity to hear at many festivals throughout the Balkans, such as Exit, Sea Dance, as well as in numerous clubs and within various multimedia events. At DTV Partizan, you can expect afro rhythms through electronic, modern sounds from Seagull Prime, in a set that will be carefully musically selected for the Wind Festival.

The performances of the mentioned DJs will be complemented by visual effects prepared by international artist DVJ Shimbo, who “colored” last year’s performance of Darko Rundek and the Crew, which opened the first edition of the Wind Fest at Pine last year.

Following a one-year natural cycle, the author presents a metaphorical relationship between the elements and the inner states of a person, as well as their interconnections.

The film opens with the shot of the “Gates of Desires,” which we continue to follow through heart-shaped forms, eventually emanating that desire with the final shot that connects us to the Cosmos.

Theater Play: ‘Silk Ocean’ (ŠkArt)

(Based on the motives of the book Silk Ocean by Alessandro Baricco)

Being aware of the power of the sea only when it rages, we often forget our own inner waves.

Is every place we head to the place we want to arrive, or do we end up there by pure coincidence? Is the Sea itself cruel or poetic? Does the Sea have a beginning and an end? Does the Sea have its boundaries, or do we audaciously want to define them? Have we become beasts by the Sea, or have we held hands and kept the promises we made to each other not so long ago? Does the Sea change our decisions? Are we afraid of its power or the uncertainties it carries?

To these and more questions, the children try to answer first to themselves and then to us. Persistent in their search, yet ready for the unpredictability of play and imagination, they tirelessly follow their own Sea and the poetry within their souls. They seek the truth. Through storms and calms.

Classical music concert: Dances of the Wind Milica & Milena Kankaraš

At the Tivat Museum and Gallery, located in the complex of the medieval Buća-Luković Summer Residence, the audience in Tivat will have an exceptional opportunity on May 5th to enjoy the concert “Dance of Dances,” prepared for the Wind Festival by Milica and Milena Kankaraš, a duo on harp and clarinet.

Harpist and harp professor, Milica Kankaraš, expressed their great pleasure to participate in the Wind Festival, which they have taken as a challenge to dance and play, the basic musical forms they will bring to us. The repertoire will include works by modern composers who wrote for the harp: Bernard Andrès’ Autumn Dances, the suite for the duo “Algues,” Dances for the harp and clarinet duo by Carol Wood, Fabio Rizza, Deborah Henson-Conant, and others.
