As part of the Windfest 2026, a solo exhibition Sail & Fly – Boka Kotorska by academic painter Ivana Bjelica will be presented in Kotor. This exhibition continues a project that began at the Maritime Heritage Museum in Porto Montenegro as part of Ocean Race Boka Bay 2025.
The Sail & Fly cycle explores the meeting of sea and air—the space between the horizon and the sky—where sailing becomes a metaphor for flight and inner freedom. This chapter focuses on the Bay of Kotor, its mountains reflected in the sea, boats in silence, historic towns such as Kotor and Perast, and the light that shapes the landscape and creates a sense of timelessness.
Through paintings, drawings, and prints, the artist transforms recognizable motifs into her own visual poetics, exploring the interplay of light and shadow, reflections, and depth. The exhibition builds upon her previous cycles Mediterraneo and Depths, continuing her long-term exploration of the symbolism of water and its inner meaning.
Sail & Fly is conceived as a traveling project—an exhibition that will, in the coming years, “sail and fly” from place to place, continually exploring the nature and culture of each environment in which it is created, and translating that experience into a new artistic chapter.
